Gerald started his DJ career in 1986 when he performed at his first teen dance. He was instantly hooked and started his own part-time DJ business while still in school. By 1990, once he was of legal age, he began playing in various local dance clubs, and on the weekends performing at weddings and corporate parties. In 1995 he started Atmosphere Entertainment and focused on expanding other aspects of the DJ industry such as rentals and production, and training new DJ recruits to help expand the diversity of style and service that he offered his customers. In 2005 he was bitten by the electronic music bug, and began playing at various underground and after-hours events, playing a variety of house music such as deep house, funky house, disco house, progressive and electro. Gerald has played at thousands of events and feels comfortable playing just about any genre of music.
Dan began his career as an entertainer in 1980 playing bass and singing in “The Track Band” at the old Misty Moon in Halifax. Dan can and has played a variety of instruments including guitar, drums and the trumpet in a jazz band. He has been an avid collector of all types of music, but especially loves 70s funk and soul. His first event as a DJ was in 1988 and Dan came to work for Atmosphere in 2003. Dan is a very versatile DJ and has played at almost any type of event imaginable. Dan always gets rave reviews from any show he performs at, whether it’s wedding or a retirement party.
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and raised in the small town of Weymouth Falls, Nova Scotia, Luke (DJ Rewind) Bishop began a career in music at the age of 16, playing for his own high school dances, weddings and also his legendary house parties. Rewind became involved with his high school drama society as a sound effects technician and also went on to provide sound & lighting for various venues and functions in the area. Upon graduating high school Rewind took part in many business ventures, but is most credited for the opening of Digby Nova Scotia's first youth oriented nightclub "Club Nations".
Rewind moved back to his city of birth, Halifax in 1995. By this time Rewind was proficient with many types of equipment and multimedia; Audio, Video, Computers and Musical. Rewind became urban music producer as well, working with a number local Hip-Hop and R&B artists. Rewind also started performing in the Halifax local club scene specializing in Hip-Hop, R&B, Old School and Dance.
At present, Rewind works with Z103.5's "Atmosphere Dance Tour" and Atmosphere Entertainment, The Maritimes Largest and Hottest Entertainment Company.
Derek Silvester a.k.a Dezza has been a DJ for over 10 years. In those 10 years he has had so many various experiences, It puts him at the top of the list when it comes to skilled versatile DJ's. While Dezza was growing up he always was an attention seeker when it came to music. He figured the best way to become noticed would be to become a DJ, and why not, the djs never seemed to appreciate what they were doing anyway. A Hip Hop fanatic in his younger days urged him to buy a set of Turntables and a Mixer and get practicing. Some kids wanted to become doctors, Derek wanted to be the DJ! Years pass and Dezza makes his appearance behind the decks at various venues in Halifax playing a variety of Top 40 Hits, while keeping the skills of the ideal DJ intact. Derek is very ambitious when it comes to DJ'ing and he came into contact with many influential people in Halifax's DJ Scene. Derek Got a Job working for Atmosphere entertainment back in 03'/04' doing many cool gigs where ever he was needed!
The next step for Derek was a big one and possibly the most important move he ever made. After being offered a DJ job with Carnival Cruise Lines, he could not refuse! 3 Years as a DJ On board 6 different super ocean liners gave Dezza the experience that puts him above the rest. The geographical location of the ships home ports, altered the Genres of music that he would have to play. Ships home ports included Baltimore, Miami, Vancouver, San Juan (Puerto Rico), San Diego, Honolulu, Whittier (Alaska), New York, Tampa, Nassau (Bahamas) just to name a few. Over those fun years, Dezza played everything from Full nights of 70's Disco,60's rock, 80's retro, 90's Dance,Salsa, Merengue, Hip Hop, Rap, R&B and Dance, to all the newest hits of today. Now, with his extensive knowledge of music, Dezza is back in action working for Atmosphere Entertainment once again. D feels that Atmosphere Entertainment is a notch above the rest! Now even in Dezza's mainstream sets he will throw in a little bit of Michael Jackson here and there, or even some James Brown if the mood is right! There's nothing worse than a DJ that doesn't respect what music is all about. Dezza knows this from an early age and with his real experience, he knows how to rock ANY crowd!
Allyn came to the DJ scene in 97 when he started with Atmosphere entertainment. Gerald (DJ Atmosphere) took him under his wing, showing him the ropes, teaching him how to mix and read a crowd until he developed his own style.
Since then Allyn has played many different events and venues, from school events, to wedding and corporate functions, expanding his musical knowledge and skill set. Superboy became a weekly resident at The Dome where he stayed for many years working on his off nights from Atmosphere and further broadening his horizons. Presently, he is still a favorite here at Atmosphere, playing at almost any type of event and always in high demand.
